Trauma Recovery

I provide trauma-informed care rooted in safety, collaboration, and empowerment. Whether you're navigating the impact of a single event or complex trauma history, I offer an approach that honors your pace and supports healing from the inside out. My work often integrates EMDR, DBT, and psychodynamic techniques to process past experiences and build resilience.

What is Trauma?

Trauma isn’t defined solely by the events that happen to us—but by how those events overwhelm our capacity to cope, especially in the absence of support, safety, or attunement. For some, trauma stems from a single incident like an accident or assault. For others, it comes from repeated exposure to emotionally invasive, neglectful, or life-threatening experiences—such as childhood abuse, systemic oppression, chronic illness, or community violence.

Regardless of the source, trauma can disrupt your sense of self, safety, and connection. It often lingers not just as a memory, but as a felt experience in the body and nervous system.

How Trauma Can Show Up

Trauma responses are deeply human—and they make sense. You might experience unwanted memories or nightmares, strong emotional flashbacks, or feel constantly on edge and easily startled. You may find yourself avoiding reminders of what happened, feeling emotionally numb or disconnected, or struggling with persistent feelings of shame, emptiness, or worthlessness. These symptoms may interfere with relationships, work, or your ability to feel present in your life.

It’s also common to experience swings between emotional intensity—like anxiety, anger, or panic—and emotional shut-down, fatigue, or dissociation. These are adaptive responses your body developed to survive. The good news is: healing is possible.

A Trauma-Informed Approach

My work is rooted in trauma-informed care, which means I hold your safety, autonomy, and readiness at the center of our work together. Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with you?” I’m more interested in understanding “What’s happened to you?”—and how we can support the parts of you that learned to protect, adapt, and survive.I specialize in treating PTSD, complex trauma (C-PTSD), developmental, and attachment-based trauma. I tailor therapy to your needs and pace, integrating relational psychodynamic work with evidence-based trauma treatments such as EMDR, DBT, and Cognitive Processing Therapy.

You Don’t Have to Tell the Whole Story

Trauma therapy doesn’t require you to share every detail of what happened. For some, processing the traumatic memory directly is healing; for others, safety comes from focusing on the present and building regulation skills. We’ll work collaboratively to determine what approach feels supportive, whether that involves exploring your story, working with body-based responses, or gently challenging beliefs formed in the aftermath of trauma. You deserve to heal—not just to cope, but to reconnect with yourself, your body, and your life in meaningful ways.
